Hi! My name is Magic Max. I've been told that I am special needs, so read my story. I’m a laid back chocolate lab who gets along with other canines. I’m house trained, I do not need to be crated and I am an all-around great dog. I am looking for a special forever home. My foster mom pulled me from the Wake County Shelter. I had been a “frequent flyer” and one day my owners did not come to pick me up. But a new family adopted me and took me home. A month later they brought me back because I kept throwing up after I ate and they did not want to spend the money to explore the root cause of my issue. The rescue took me to their vet and they diagnosed me with Megaesophagus. The vet was shocked because most dogs with this condition are unable to get the proper nutrients and are usually underweight (which I am not). Many dogs are born with this condition and sometimes dogs develop this condition later in life. We did lots of other tests and ruled out any other causes and determined that my condition needs to be managed. So what does that mean? I take Prilosec 30 minutes before each meal, my food is saturated in water so it can be digested past my esophagus, I eat standing up and I don’t get to excited after eating With the adjustments to my lifestyle, I can say that it is working. Episodes were non-existent for a month but I had some issues recently because of a food change but my foster mom figured it out. Hooray! So if you are looking for your new best friend, submit an application and we can arrange a meet and greet! But we will only accept applications within a 3 hour drive because my condition can flare up and the rescue has commited to me so if I need to come back, I am within driving distance. Up to date on age appropriate vaccines, neutered and micro-chipped. Adoption Fee: $200.00 More about Magic MaxDoes not require a yard Videos of Magic Max:
